Für Familien wird Microsoft zum Jubiläum von Windows 7 erneut da sogenannte "Windows 7 Family Pack" anbieten. Damit kann Windows 7 Home Premium einfach und kostengünstig auf bis zu 3 PCs eines Haushalts gleichzeitig installiert werden. Es handelt sich dabei um ein limitiertes Angebot (FCFS) startend ab dem 11.Oktober 2010 für 149,99€ (unverbindliche Preisempfehlung) im autorisierten Fachhandel.

Anmerkung: Im Microsoft Store kostet eine Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Lizenz zurzeit 119,99 €- Diese darf man nur auf einem PC installieren.

Windows Phone 7-Partner erhalten ab sofort die finale Version zur Vorbereitung für den Marktstart von Windows Phone 7 - die ersten Geräte mit Windows Phone 7 sollen zu Weihnachten Verfügbar sein.

Windows Phone 7 zeichnet sich durch ein neues smartes Design aus, das sich durch einfache Bedienbarkeit, sinnvolle Bündelung von Themenbereichen in Hubs und nicht zuletzt durch eine Einbindung der Suchmaschine Bing auszeichnet. • People: Informationen zu den Kontakten wie Live Feeds von den sozialen Netzwerken aber auch Bilder von Personen werden hier zusammen geführt. Außerdem der Ausgangspunkt für die eigenen Updates in den sozialen Netzwerken wie Facebook und Windows Live. 
• Pictures: Vereinfacht das Veröffentlichen / Teilen von Bildern über soziale Netzwerke – nur noch ein Schritt zur Veröffentlichung. Alle Bilder und Videos, vom PC und aus dem Internet, werden hier zusammen geführt.
• Games: Die erste und einzige Xbox LIVE Integration auf einem Smartphone umfasst Spiele mit Xbox LIVE Unterstützung, weltweite Ranglisten und erlaubt die Darstellung von Spieler Avataren, Freundeslisten und Xbox LIVE Profilen. Xbox LIVE hat weltweit 23 Millionen aktive Nutzer.
• Music + Video: Verbindet das Beste von Zune, Dateien vom PC sowie Online-Musikangeboten und verfügt über einen Radioempfänger. Mit Zune Social werden Empfehlungen mit Freunden mit ähnlichem Geschmack ausgetauscht. Die Wiedergabe-Funktion ist sehr umfassend und macht das umfangreiche Angebot einfach zugänglich.
• Marketplace: Im Marketplace finden sich die unterschiedlichsten Applikationen und Spiele.

Warum wird auf meinem Computer für Klick-und-Los (click-to-run) "Q:" oder "R:" angezeigt?
Bei Klick-und-Los stellen Sie möglicherweise fest, dass auf Ihrem PC ein virtuelles Laufwerk Q: (auf manchen Systemen R:) erstellt wurde. Dabei handelt es sich nicht um ein wirkliches Laufwerk, und Sie können von Windows-Explorer oder vom Arbeitsplatz aus nicht darauf zugreifen. Für Klick-und-Los-Produkte muss ein "virtuelles" Dateisystem auf einem logischen Laufwerk installiert werden. Deshalb wird Q: bzw. Ich habe folgende Änderung vorgenommen und sehe das Laufwerk nun nicht mehr im Explorer und kann Word etc. noch starten.

1. Start -> ausführen (win+r) –> regedit
2. Navigiere zu HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
• Anmerkung: Bei mir war kein Ordner Explorer vorhanden- Einfach rechtsklick auf Policies und dann auf Neu-> Schlüssel und den Ordner "Explorer" benennen.
3. Im Ordner Explorer Rechtsklick und dann DWORD (32-bit) auswählen und bsp. NoDrives benennen
   
4. Wert 65536 (Dezimal) eintragen
5. System neu starten

To easily assess the security state of Windows machines, Microsoft offers the free Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) scan tool. MBSA includes a graphical and command line interface that can perform local or remote scans of Microsoft Windows systems.

MBSA 2.2 builds on the previous MBSA 2.1.1 version that asupports Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and corrects minor issues reported by customers. As with the previous MBSA versions, MBSA 2.2 includes 64-bit installation, security update and vulnerability assessment (VA) checks and support for the latest Windows Update Agent (WUA) and Microsoft Update technologies. More information on the capabilities of MBSA is available on the MBSA Web site.

MBSA 2.2 runs on Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000 systems and will scan for missing security updates, rollups and service packs using Microsoft Update technologies. MBSA will also scan for common security misconfigurations (also called Vulnerability Assessment checks) using a known list of less secure settings and configurations for all versions of Windows, Internet Information Server (IIS) 5.0, 6.0 and 6.1, SQL Server 2000 and 2005, Internet Explorer (IE) 5.01 and later, and Office 2000, 2002 and 2003 only.

To assess missing security updates, MBSA will only scan for missing security updates, update rollups and service packs available from Microsoft Update. MBSA will not scan or report missing non-security updates, tools or drivers.

Microsoft hat soeben ein Sicherheitsupdate für eine kritische Sicherheitslücke in Windows Systemen zu veröffentlicht. Anwendern wird empfohlen dieses Update direkt zu installieren. Nutzer die die Funktion “Automatische Updates” aktiviert haben, brauchen sich nicht selber darum kümmern.
