PressPass went online in 1996 as a resource for journalists covering the U.S. Department of Justice vs. Microsoft legal proceedings. Since then, the site has evolved to deliver news across Microsoft’s products, services, executive leadership and initiatives. Our content has expanded from simple press releases to feature articles that provide context by telling the “story behind the story.” And over the past year we’ve started providing rich media content such as video through special sections we call virtual pressrooms and presskits. What’s New?
We continue to change and grow to meet your needs. We use survey results and a host of Web metrics to understand how and what kinds of resources and stories are most effective and meaningful. Based on that data and your feedback, our team will roll out additional site features and content types in the months ahead as we build on our new look and feel. Tell us what you think and what types of content and features you’d like to see on the site by sending e-mail to PressPass Media Feedback. We look forward to hearing from you. Microsoft’s New Search at Bing.com (Codename “KUMO”) now ready to use!
The result of this new approach is an important beginning for a new and more powerful kind of search service, which Microsoft is calling a Decision Engine, designed to empower people to gain insight and knowledge from the Web, moving more quickly to important decisions. The new service, located at http://www.Bing.com, will begin to roll out over the coming days and will be fully deployed worldwide on Wednesday, June 3. The explosive growth of online content has continued unabated, and Bing was developed as a tool to help people more easily navigate through the information overload that has come to characterize many of today’s search experiences. Results from a custom comScore Inc. study across core search engines show that as many as 30 percent of searches are abandoned without a satisfactory result. The data also showed that approximately two-thirds of the remaining searches required a refinement or requery on the search results page. This paper discusses both the Windows Vista and Windows XP versions of Internet Explorer. Administrators and system owners can use the guidance in this paper to tighten security settings in the browser to meet their specific needs. The document is structured to provide a description and review of the settings and features the paper discusses. Microsoft recommendations for enhancing the default security settings in some common deployment scenarios are also provided. Download Windows 7 IT Pro Guides
